The Masvingo area’s main attraction and birding spot is the Kyle Recreational Park. Miombo clad hills, the forest at Great Zimbabwe and the dam itself present great opportunities. Kyle is more-or-less the southern limit of miombo on the Zimbabwean plateau between Harare and South Africa before dropping into lower and drier country and is a first – or last opportunity, depending on which way you are travelling – to find miombo specials.
National Parks at Kyle offer self-catering lodges, camping and caravan sites.
Rainbow Hotels run the Lodge at the Ancient City, built in to a granite outcrop, with a variety of room options.
