Miombo birding – a feature of Mashonaland – can be slow at times but there is nothing like suddenly being swamped by a ‘bird party’ or mixed species feeding flock, and not knowing where to look in the excitement. In Harare there are many places to visit and these include miombo, vleis, dams and botanic gardens and reserves. Further afield are wildlife areas such as Umfurudzi and Mavuradonha and the Selous area with reedbeds, dams, miombo, mopane and acacia woodlands.
